Our Philosophy
The Center for Family Enrichment’ philosophy of change comes
from the theoretical influences that have had an impact on the development
of Clinical Director, Frances Bernfeld’s approach to working with
people:
Some of the theories that provide the foundation for
many of CFE’s courses include those of Structural Family Therapy,
Cognitive Behavioral and Gestalt Therapies and Humanistic and Existential
Psychology. Additional influences have come from the theories of Alfred
Adler, Virginia Satir, Murray Bowen and others.
Change can be difficult to accomplish! It takes hard work which you will
find produces great rewards. It can also be frustrating when we take 2
steps forward and 1 step backward. The change process that moves from
unconscious
incompetence to unconscious competence takes time and patience.
We believe that change can only take place when a person
decides to behave, act, think, feel or interact in a different way. This
is a personal decision which each of us must make for ourselves. However,
we can choose people to help and guide us in our quest to create change
in our lives. CFE provides a nurturing environment that is safe and secure,
allowing you to achieve desired changes.
